Alexander Yap

Alexander Yap is an exciting new talent in the ballet world. He was born in London and after graduating from the Royal Ballet School his professional career started at Northern Ballet before joining Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2018.

Alexander says, “Dance enables me to be a living embodiment of emotion. The sensation is completely freeing and I can’t help but feel how lucky I am to be able to share this with the world.”

 

Alexander currently holds a position with Hong Kong Ballet as a Leading Soloist. Where he has performed the leading roles in  Septime’s Nutcracker, Carmina Burana and the Great Gatsby in addition to Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Coco Channel. Additionally he has attended multiple Gala partnering the likes of Marianela Núñez, Nao Sakuma and Ye Feifei. 

His repertoire with his previous company’s included Prince Siegfried in Wright’s Swan Lake, the pas de deux man in MacMillan’s Concerto,  Hilaron in David Bintley’s Giselle, Espada in Carlos Acosta’s Don Quixote, Benvolio in Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Other repertoire includes Bintley’s Cinderella, The King Dances and Beauty and the Beast, Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, Jack Lister’s A Brief Nostalgia, Goyo Montero’s Chacona and more.
